All world one happy family.
I am idling away with the thought of what may have happened if in the Hindu epic Mahabharat, when Duryodhan proclaims to Arjun that he would not surrender even one tiny needle point space of land back to Arjun, instead of taking arms to reclaim that land. Arjun had thought of other avenues open to him.
Arjun and his brothers could have said, "OK, this is gross injustice, but we will not kill and maim and war over this issue."
They could have gone to another village, town, country. Started out afresh. With their royal heritage, and, not forgetting with God Krishna with them, they would have prospered again and, by doing good for the citizens of that country, would have been voted to kingship of that country by those town folk.
The story could have developed into Duryodhan, repenting his errors, and changing his heart, through love and affection shown to him by Arjun, in spite of the criminalities of Duryodhan, and inviting Arjun back to take charge of all his kingdom.
Such a story would leave a moral of peace and love and brotherhood amongst all men.
I wonder why, through the centuries that his story has been told, no great sages have given this twist to the tale.
At one's daily mundane level of living, say the 10 year old brother takes away his younger sister's pencil and rubber?
Should the sister fight and bruise the elder brother?
Or can she do other things? Use another set of pencil and rubber? Do something else instead? Cut and paste figures she would have pencilled in on the paper? The resulting collage would be a work of genius.
The brother may, knowing he caused no aggravation in the sister, give up. surrender the stolen goods with an apology?
As I look back in my life, I have often suffered similar, often sizable robberies against me. But I have never fought back.
Until now I used to berate myself for never having stood up to my rights by being a coward lowly worm. But may be I never retaliated because I wanted to avoid the agonies of a fight, a war.
I have, obviously lost on those fronts. But there has also been fronts where I have gained, by serving others, not harming any one, I think, enough to compensage my losses, and maintain my happiness, peace and sanity.
Wishing you all the best in the world.
Please do remember to
Thank you. Shree-1
