Where did we go wrong?

Hello! Welcome to "How Can I Make It A Better World?"

A joke:    I was sunning myself on a park bench one spring evening.

A cute little white poodle came running up to play with trousers.

Behind it ran up its master, a little girl with freckles and pony tails.

Picking up the poodle in her arms,  she apologised for her poodle bothering me.

"Not a bother at all," I said comforting her. You have a sweet  little poodle. What's his name?'

The girl frowned, searching for an answer.

Then, giving up, because she wanted to get on, and not worry me any more, said quickly,

"I do not know his name. I call him Sammy."

Where Did We Go wrong?

I have read a passage in a book translating a famous religious ious book of Asia to the effect that the world is transitory. Worldly enjoyments are laced with pain. We should, therefore, shunt them away.
We should curtail all bodily desires, renounce life's responsibilities, and hide away in seclusion to meditate. That is the only way to realise one's self, and get to know of God, find our 'nirvana.'

This seemed so irrational a message from a holy scriptures that I almost thaught this translation was a sort of student prank, a spoof, of a holy message.

Then I realised that the message was not something lost in the translation.

This indeed is an interpretation of God's message accepted by millions.

People do give up wanting to strive for luxuries that wealth brings giving this guidance as an excuse to run away from life.

Others see something pious in being poor, and miserly. Even in Christianity there is a beleief that says something like "Blessed are the meek."

Meek meaning the oppressed, the poor, the troubled.

Some people even flay themselves with ropes, or suffer bodily torture thinking that doing so will make them dearer to God.

Where did we go wrong that this meaning was attached to our existence?

The truth, according to the great scriptures of India, as I have understood them to be, is that we are a part of the Universe, which is one undifferentiated Consciousness, one Awareness, one Mind.

This Mind continuously thinks. It is its inherent property to do so.

The result of the thinking of this Universal Mind is the creation of galaxies, stars, planets, and us.

Our mind is an atom of the same Universal Consciousness.

Its inherent property is to keep on expanding, creating endlessly.

So when man creates things, or wants to create things, he is only flowing with the Universe, with God.

I would say that God has given us a tongue so that we can enjoy the delicate tastes of our food. He could easily have devised a man where food necessary for survival of the body would go straight to the stomach for digestion.

Life is meant to be enjoyed, to the full. To strive for pleasure and things that give us joy is not to rebel against God's wishes. Quite the opposite. To do so is helping God continue the Creation of the Universe that He has begun.

There are overtones to this message, of course.

For example, one may strive to create luxuries for pleasure, knowing that to do so its God's will. So any disappointments in our ventures should not result in sorrow, but acceptance of any outcome also as God's will.

I am comforted that many modern thinkers like Deepak Chopra, Gill Edwards (Living Magically), Louis Hay (You can Hal your life) Pamela Oslie, etc. support my view as God  being a Consciousness which wants to create through our minds.

Life is meant to explore, to expand, to create, to enjoy.

The coin of life has 'Joy' stamped on each of its sides.

Wishing you joy and abundance,       Shree-1

Elixir of Life

Hello! Welcome to How Can I Make It A Better World?"

A joke:  At end of a tiring, frustrating day, I had no energy left to struggle with cooking at home.

So I took myself to a Chinese Take-away shop which proclaimed in its window, and on the service counter, "Service with a smile."

In line with the day, my wait to be served also turned out to be frustratingly long.

I could see several attendants busying themselves with in the kitchen, but no one came out to serve me.

Finally I blurted out, "That is a nice service with a smile you are giving me."

One of the attendants came out, "We can't serve you, Sir, until you have smiled, and you have only shown us your glum face."

Elixir of Life.

I have found my elixir of life.

I know how I will be able to enjoy radiant health.

                To  enjoy a life of fun and joy, free of worries and disease I need to incorporate the following in my life;

 1. Accept "mentalism" as the nature of my reality.

Nature of reality is a topic that can be discussed ad infinitum.

By 'mentalism," in essence, I mean that the world I experience, my world to include my body, is a projection of a Cosmic Mind through an atom of that same Mind which is my own true self.

My senses detect this projections and report back to my mind as a world existing outside of the mind.

The world is, in effect, a 'maya' a phantom, like the dream I dream at night.

By my prevailing thoughts, with my visions of the body and future I want, I can affect what the Universe projects through my mind.

That is the "mentalism" I need to accept as being the ultimate truth.

 2. For at least two sessions a day,  each session to be about five minutes, I need to completely relax each muscle of my body.

I need to be at peace with my surroundings and with my own self.

During this period of relaxation I need to attend to my breathing.

This breathing to be deep and full, but natural, and slow. I will not hold my breath in my body, or delay my inbreathing after exhalation.

3. Every day I will drink copious amount of ordinary water. A guide to the amount of water I need to drink is given by my weight in pounds divided by two. This is amount of water in fluid ounces I need to drink daily. One ounce, I remember is, for this purpose, 30mls.

So for me, I will drink about two litres a day.

This will be as two or three glassfuls on rising, a glassful before and after food, and a glassful several times during the day, and before sleep at night.

Regret for this need, cups of tea, orange drink, cola drinks, wines etc. will not count towards my water intake.

I need not reduce my normal salt intake whilst i am drinking copious amounts of water.

3.  I will daily ensure that I do some aerobic exercises. Some movements every day that will get the blood circulating freely in my body.

4. I will do something creative everyday. Anything that requires me to create something where nothing existed before. This may be playing a musical instrument, singing, drawing, writing, art work, or even my work that earn me money.

      That is essentially it.

      My elixir of life.

Obviously a lot more is needed to make life fun and joy and free of disease.

But my feeling is that provided I incorporate these practices into my life, other requirements for a healthy happy life, like a balanced diet, happy relations, money, etc. will be as a sort of side effect of following these practices. As such they will be easier to obtain than otherwise.

Finally, it goes without saying that these are my opinion as an ordinary common man.

You need to seek advice from your health professional in all matters regarding your health and wellness.
