Hello, Welcome to "How Can I Make It A Better World?"
All world one happy family.
Aid workers are shot dead.
What motivates a person to do such deeds?
Regrettably, this is not the first time I have heard of this sort of atrocities happening.
How is it that some one can harbour a lot of hatred for another, often a total stranger?
Here I am in a quiet corner of the world, reading books that say that if I were to think of loving thoughts - thoughts that show care, and consideration and courtesy and kindness to others, all world will become a better place.
Unfortunately, even well-to-do educated people, whom you would think of as being truly cultured, of having humane manners, often show their brutal nature as soon as a situation develops that irritates them.
I am thinking of all the incidents in 'Colombo' detective stories, where really wealthy people, writers, business leaders, army majors, on seeing Colombo at first trespassing their property shout down at him, and order him about as if he was the scum of the earth.
Television soap operas, from "Dallas' to India television "serials" all show people's haughty behaviour with other people.
I have seen in my visits to India, car drivers, wealthy learned professors, no less, snarl obscenities to scooter riders and cyclists not giving them way.
The mark of culture is that one treats even one's servants with dignity and respect, showing kindness and courtesy even when receiving a service from that servant.
Allowing yourself such learning and culture will make your, and others' a better world.
Wishing you all the best, Shree-1
